Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development:

The literal meaning of sustainability is involving the use of natural products & energy in a way that doesn’t harm to the environment.

The concept of sustainable development was originally synonymous with that of the sustainability & is often still used in that way. Both terms derived from the older forestry term “sustained yield” which in turn is a translation of a German term. The concept of sustainability in the sense of a balance between resource consumption & reproduction was however applied to forestry already in the 12th to 16th century.

Definition of Sustainable Development:

“Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Sustainable development is the intertwined of three domains:
1. Economy
2. Environment
3. Society
• Economic policies are needs to be socially & environmentally
Feasible.
• Social policies are needs to be environmentally & economically Feasible.
